Street Department
(1815 Eagle Street)
 TThe
Street Department is responsible for the maintenance and repairs
to 70 miles of streets, 4 miles of alleys, 7 municipal parking
lots, 61 miles of sanitary sewers, 35 miles of storm sewers, as well as building and grounds maintenance at several locations.
Responsibilities include:
- Pavement patching and repairs
- Street and traffic sign installation/repairs/replacement
- Pavement marking (crosswalks, stop bars, parking spaces,
directional arrows, etc.)
- Sanitary and storm sewer cleaning and repairs;
- Mowing City street rights-of-way and City-owned properties
- Minor bridge repairs/maintenance
- Street sweeping
- Alley grading and clearing
- Brush chipping, including Christmas trees
- Fall leaf collection
- Winter ice control/Snow plowing
- Grading gravel roads
- Building maintenance
- Assisting other City departments
