The City of Niles Community Development Department is one of
seven City departments. Its functions include activities related to short
and long-range community planning, building inspection services,
real and personal property value assessment, historical preservation
and education. The department also works closely with the Niles Main
Street program.
The Community Development Department is comprised of the

Home Assistance Program
The Community Development Department oversees federal funds
that are supplied to help income-eligible residents with home
rehabilitation assistance. The Homeowners Assistance
Program is an annual cycle program available when federal monies

Planning
Planning provides information on land use, zoning, site
development standards, general plan policies and City Council
directed study issues. Planning also processes applications for
land use related permits.
Dial A Ride Transportation System
The Niles Dial A Ride is a transportation system serving
residents of the City of Niles and provides limited services to
