SNOW REMOVAL EQUIPMENT OPERATOR POSITION DESCRIPTION

FLSA Status:               Non-exempt.

General Summary:

Day-to-day snow plowing operations at Jerry Tyler Memorial Airport on an as-needed basis.

Essential Job Functions:

An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following functions. These examples do not include all of the duties which the employee may be expected to perform. To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.

¨       Perform snow removal operations including runways, taxiways, taxi streets, apron, vehicle parking areas, and walkways around buildings. 

¨       Ensure snow removal equipment is maintained as required.

¨       Maintain neat and accurate records of all vehicle maintenance activities.

¨       Performs related duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Minimum Qualifications:

¨       High school diploma or equivalent

¨       Some experience in building, and grounds maintenance and equipment maintenance.

¨       A valid driver’s license.  A State of Michigan Commercial Drivers License with Class B endorsement is preferred.

¨       Good driving record 

¨       Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.

¨       Knowledge of the safety issues, regulations, and procedures utilized in public works activities.

¨       Skill in effectively communicating ideas and concepts.

¨       Ability to establish effective working relationships and use good judgment, initiative, and resourcefulness when dealing with the public, other employees, etc.

¨       Ability to critically assess situations, solve problems, and work effectively under stress and in emergency situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in the field. While at work the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions and moving mechanical parts and/or machinery. The noise level can range from moderate to loud depending on the project site and nature of the work being performed.
