The public is invited to attend. The board assists with planning for park improvement or expansion projects, parks maintenance, etc.; establishes rules and regulations regarding park use; and advises on the replacement of park equipment.

A summer park program for area youth is popular in June, July and early August and is held at Plym Park, located on the city's north side. A summer concert series is held at the Amphitheater just north of Main St. on the river in June, July and August. Concerts are financially supported by the City of Niles and the Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs.
